After disappointing most soccer fans with their ninth position on the just ended 2006/2007Onetouch Premier League table, almost every member of Dansoman based Liberty Professionals, right from the management team, technical staff as well as the playing body believes the scientific soccer lads will definitely make to the CAF organized African Club Competitions come the close of next season.

Among such strong faithful is the club’s young sensational forward, Samuel Ayew Yeboah, who believes strongly that the scientific soccer lads will definitely bounce back from what many termed a ‘disappointing season’ and represent the country in next season’s African Club Competitions.

Yeboah, who tasted the elite division of Ghanaian soccer for the first time this season, made this known in an interview last week after his side Liberty Professionals, held league winners, Accra Hearts of Oak to a goalless drawn game in a special ceremonial match organized by the Phobians at the Carl Reindolf Park at Dansoman in a special celebration match organized by the league champions.

Yeboah, who was voted as the most outstanding player in the game against the league champions after displaying what many later termed a ‘Mohammed Polo carbon copy’ claimed his will aiming at nothing apart from a Champions league slot next year.

According to young Yeboah, who was a member of the 2005 national U-17 soccer team, the Black Starlets, but missed the Peru tournament due to an ankle injury he suffered few weeks before the competition, Liberty’s major problem was that most of the playing staff that participated in the just ended league were debutants and inexperienced as far as participation at the top level is concern.

But added that it will be a total ball game next season as they have acquired the Premiership baptism. “I will like to assure all our fans that they will definitely see a different Liberty Professions next season right from the start to the finish of the competition now that most of us have acquired what it takes to play in the Premiership”.

He mentioned some of the ingredients that a player needs to excel in the Premiership as, courage, commitment, determination and above all a very good character, since by possessing these qualities, the player will always stand tall among his colleagues.

According to Ayew, who also praised his technical staff headed by Ghana’s Olympic team coach, Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, after learning a lot from them within his short stay, majority members of the playing body’s morale went dead after management announced that the club was not going to participate in the CAF Confederation Cup. He said, “Almost everyone’s spirit went down after that announcement by management since we had already pictured ourselves playing in Africa”. In fact our performance after that announcement started going down hence our final position on the league table, he added.

The player who joined Liberty Professionals from Cantonments based Second Division side, International Allies, after impressing officials of Liberty during their participation in the second edition of the annual Mylik Under-19 Classic Tournament where he scored some fantastic goals to help his side lift the trophy, has won the hearts of most supporters of Liberty Professionals despite being with them for a season, courtesy his skills and exceptional play, watching Ayew Yeboah play in the Premiership testifies clearly why most fans of the Dansoman club keep calling for his inclusion into the junior national teams after serving in the 2005 Starlets squad.

According to him, an invitation to join his colleagues at the national Under-20 camp, the Black Satellite will be welcome news.

Liberty Professionals, who had promised earlier last year to lift the 2006/07 Onetouch Premier League to climax their tenth anniversary celebration, joined the Premier League in 1997, had their last participation in continental competition in 2004 when they suffered elimination at the last qualifier in the then African Cup Winners Cup.
