World Cup Betting: Ghana 66-1 Odds in South Africa

Heading into 2010 World Cup betting, Ghana could have been considered as one of the favorites out of all the African teams. That was until Michael Essien (Chelsea) was ruled out for this month's tournament after a season full of knee and ankle injuries. Now with Essien out of play, Ghana is a 66-1 longshot in World Cup betting odds to win the finals in South Africa and +500 to win the Group D bracket. “It’s a big blow, not only to the team but to the country,” coach Milovan Rajevac said last week. “He is an instrumental player, he is important to this team. Michael is a winner, he is a big asset and we are all sad about the fact that we will go to South Africa without him."

Ghana will face one of the World Cup favorites in Germany in their Group D bracket along wih Serbia and Australia. With Essien out, there was room for Rajevac to include Kevin-Prince Boateng (Portsmouth) on his final 23-man roster. Boateng has been under scrutiny since switching alliances from Germany to Ghana after being frustrated with the lack of opportunities available on the German squad. Boateng is also the player responsible for ending the hopes of German captain Michael Ballack making an appearance at this year's finals with rough challenge during the FA Cup final. Bet Ghana +250 vs Serbia in their Group D bracket first round match and 66-1 in 2010 World Cup betting to win the tournament in South Africa with a free $10 bet and $32 in free casino chips.

Rajevac has included Asamoah Gyan (Rennes) and Dominic Adiyiah (AC Milan) as strikers while Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan) and Kwadwo Asamoah (Udinese) will work the midfield. John Paintsil (Fulham) and John Mensah (Sunderland) will guard the box while Richard Kingson (Wigan) will play in the net. Ghana has had a rough start on the road to the cup with a mediocre 2-1 win vs Uganda and a 4-1 loss to Holland in International friendlies. Ghana will face Serbia in their opening round match-up on June 13th as +250 underdogs while the World Cup betting total for that game is set at 2 OVER -120.
