Wolverhampton manager Kenny Jackett says Middlesbrough trio Gaston Ramirez, Albert Adomah and George Friend caused the damage as his side slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the Riverside.

Uruguay international Ramirez - brought on loan from Southampton in January - scored his second and third goals for the club.

The result means Wolves have won only once in their last nine matches, but Jackett was full of praise for Boro after the match.

"I felt that Adomah and Friend down Boro's left hand side were dominant, very good, and it opened the hole for Ramirez to come off the front and link everything," Jackett said.

"We never really got hold of that triangle and it was enough to give Boro the edge.

"We finished quite strongly and got a goal back, but even in the last few minutes couldn't get a run at a very solid defence.

"People have said (Boro have the strongest squad in the Championship) all season and they are very strong here. Scoring goals against them here is very difficult and they can grind out results.

"I was disappointed but it was a tall order coming here and winning. The nature of the first goal gave us a lot to do as you can't give soft goals away here."

Jackett admitted he has been impressed with Boro's business this season, especially in January when the likes of Ramirez, Jordan Rhodes and Ritchie De Laet all bolstered an already strong squad.

But the Wolves boss admits he's no longer surprised to see players of the calibre of Ramirez in the second-tier.

"The top ten of the Championship is a very high standard of player and the likes of Middlesbrough have done well to secure a high number of good quality players," Jackett added.

"When you're looking through the squad and thinking who will play, they have two players in every position of equal ability."
