Western Region women beat Upper East Region women 3-0

Kumasi, June 24, GNA - Western Region women's football team beat their Upper East Region counterparts 3-0 at the on-going National Sports Festival in Kumasi on Wednesday.

The Western Region team opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Florence Akyea and increased the tally to 2-0 in the 11th minute through Anita Amankwa.

The Upper East team could not match the skill of the Westerners who dominated the game and scored their third goal in the 18th minute through Victoria Techie.

In another women's football match, Greater Accra beat Immigration Service 2-0 with goals from Diana Ankoma who converted a spot kick in the 29th minute with Faustina Hammond scoring the second goal in the 41st minute.

In the other women's football matches, Prison Service drew 0-0 with Fire Service and Brong Ahafo Region spanked Upper West Region 4-0. In the women's hockey, Ashanti Region had a walkover over Eastern Region, Prisons Service walloped Greater Accra 6-0 while Fire Service made light work of Ghana Universities Association (GUSA) by trouncing them 7-0 and CEPS beat Police Service 1-0.

In basketball (women division), Police Service had a walkover Eastern Region, CEPS beat Brong-Ahafo Region 138-13 while GUSA beat Fire Service 52-29.

In the netball division, Greater Accra Region beat Central Region 28-16 with Ashanti Region defeating Volta Region 30-11.
