We won't pay, go to court - Hearts

Accra, Oct. 17, GNA - Defending League Champions Accra Hearts of Oak have said they will not refund the 850 million cedis to Kotoko as requested by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and have urged both Kotoko and Charles Taylor to take the club to court.

Kotoko were fined 200 million cedis while Taylor was asked to pay 650 million cedis to Hearts for wrongful player inducement and breach of contract respectively in the much-publicised Charles Taylor transfer saga.

The GFA surprisingly wrote to Hearts on Wednesday, October 15, almost three months after the saga, to refund the money to Kotoko within 21 days.

A statement signed by Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts copied to the GNA Sports and the GFA, said the GFA has no legal basis for its demand.

It accused the GFA's legal committee of being biased saying: "the Legal Committee found it convenient to ignore the evidence given by our Chief Executive, Mr Tommy Okine, which was corroborated by Seth Adjei, Taylor's witness in relation to the player's 50 million cedis."

Kotoko after the payment of the fine demanded that the money be refunded to the club because a 50 million-cedi cheque as enticement fee for Taylor bounced hence no contract exited between the player and Hearts.
