"We will beat Falcons" - Crenstil

Accra, Aug 9, GNA - Fred Crenstil, Chairman of the Management Committee of Ghana's female senior soccer team, the Black Queens says his charges will overcome the Super Falcons of Nigeria when they clash on Sunday.

The Queens host the Super Falcons in an Olympic Games qualifier at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra in a game Ghana must win to keep their dream of snatching the sole slot on course.

Crenstil told GNA Sports, "I've seen the mood in camp and I have no doubt whatsoever that we will beat the Nigerians.

"The girls have given me every assurance possible and I know they will not fail."

Ghana has beaten the Nigerians only once in as many meetings but the Chairman believes the team stands equal chance as the visitors who rule the continent's women soccer.

It has been uncovered by GNA Sports that the Falcons who lead the Queens on the table by superior goal difference are being offered eight thousand dollars, three thousand dollars more than their usual match bonuses by the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) as an inducement to win the match.

But Crenstil remains unperturbed by the said motivational incentives put at the disposal of the Falcons who posted a 1-0 victory over the Queens in their last meeting at the finals of the African Woman Championship in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria last November.

"Let them give the Falcons 100,000 dollars and that will still not prevent us from beating them."

The Queens are worth three thousand dollars per player as the regular winning bonus.

Crenstil told GNA Sports a special package as incentives has been made available for the Queens who lost out on penalties when they clashed in Accra on February 14, 2004 in a similar meeting. 09 Aug. 07
