Ghana’s 4x100 Relay Team has made a passionate request for more financial support and time to boost their preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games, which will be hosted in Paris in July.

The quartet, made up of Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio, and Ibrahim Fuseini, became Ghana’s first set to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games.

The team sealed their qualification in style as they placed first in their heats at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas.

Having reached their goal of qualifying for the Summer Games, the ultimate dream for many Ghanaians is to see the country clinch a medal in athletics, and for Ghana’s 4x100 Relay Team, this will come at a cost.

Speaking after securing their qualification, the team requested financial support and more time to prepare adequately for the games.

“We want money,” the young Ibrahim Fuseini said, while Benjamin Azamati added, “The other countries, Denmark, Great Britain, and the others, had two weeks of camping in Florida prior to these games. But we only arrived here on Thursday, and we were supposed to run on Saturday, meaning we only had one day to train, and these are the guys we compete with.”

“So, we need that much ample time to prepare and face these countries, and of course, it comes with money,” Azamati told Joy Sports.

Joseph Paul Amoah re-echoed the team's desire, saying, “We need ample time and resources.”

Benjamin Azamati and Joseph Paul Amoah will be representing Ghana in their second Olympic Games, and the boys are determined to leave an indelible mark in Paris.
