A former management member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club, David Serebour Boateng has revealed that the club used “juju” to defeat Accra Hearts of Oak 2-0 during the reigns of former executive board chairman Dr. Desmond Kofi Kodua Sarpong.

The Hail Him Limited managing director, who was reacting to the debate as to whether there is juju in football on Hot FM morning sports show “Focal Sports” yesterday said, he asked Dr. Sarpong to allow him handle the league match against bitterest rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium to which the former agreed.

“I brought the team to Tema where I camped the players in a hotel, after which I went to see a juju man who asked me to bring just two crates of eggs which I did.”

According to him the juju man used the eggs to form a cross on the ground and asked him to walk on them which he did and after walking on the eggs to his surprise only two eggs were crushed.

“After that episode the juju man gave me two white handkerchiefs and told me Kotoko would win 2-0 and gave me the times for the goals, I tied the handkerchiefs on the wrist of two players on the match day”

Failing to name the said particular match and the two players on whose wrist he placed the white handkerchiefs, Serebour Boateng who at one point in times was the Accra representative of Kotoko at the Premier League Board, said the juju-man warned him not to allow the team use the motorway route to the Accra Sports stadium but rather use the beach road instead to which they obeyed religiously which was the first and only time Kotoko has ever use that route.

The wealthy clearing agent continued that on the match day he sat by Dr. Sarpong at the stadium and when the juju-man called him to tell the time for the goals I relayed it to then executive board chairman, the goals came at the time mentioned by the juju man.

He made these revelations to buttress the point that for him “juju” plays a serious role in football here in Ghana.

Checks by your authoritative sports news website Ghanasoccernews.com can confirm that the said match in question was the 22 week Glo premier league game played on Sunday 20 March 2011.

The said game indeed ended 2-0 in favour of Kumasi Asante Kotoko with two, first half efforts from Ivorian-import Ahmed Toure and Daniel Nii Adjei sealing the doom of the Rainbow club, this was after Obed Ansah had poked the hearts of the Porcupine Warriors 1-0 in the reverse fixture.

It was the game that saw Hearts of Oak players entering the pitch with a huge phobia scarf over their heads. Toure, broke the deadlock on the 4thminute mark Nii Adjei putting the game beyond the Phobians by the 20 minutes mark with the second goal past goalie Sammy Adjei.

David Serebour Boateng claims learns credence to a Kotoko legend Sarfo Gyamfi’s pronouncements last year that the Asanteman club used Juju, to overcome Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium last year.
