'We took our chance against Kotoko'

WAFA SC coach John Killa WAFA SC coach John Killa

WAFA SC coach John Killa says his young lads took their chance against a wasteful Kotoko on Wednesday.

The Academy boys handed the defending league champions their 8th defeat of the season with a 1-0 scoreline courtesy a 51st minute strike from 17-year-old Majeed Ashmeiru.

The Dutch trainer whose side now lie third on the First Capital Plus Premier League (FCPPL) log with 36 points admits his team was outplayed but expressed satisfaction at their ability to grind out results at the end.

“If you are leading possession in the game and you do not utilize your chances and you squander them all, the game can turn against you the opposition team and that was something which happened in the game and we punished Kotoko, so we deserve it,” Killa said in a post-match interview.

“We always play fantastic games and we always lose at the end but today we did well and we were hopeful to win and it happened,”

WAFA travel to face Liberty Professionals next at the Carl Reindorf Park while struggling Kotoko lock horns with leaders AshantiGold in Kumasi on Sunday, July 26.
