We have shown our capabilities - Coach Tetteh

Changwon, (SK), Sept. 1, GNA - Head coach of Ghana's U-17 National team, the Black Starlets Sellas Tetteh has said the ability of his side to beat three South American teams on a roll shows the capabilities of his team in world soccer especially at the youth level.

" A lot of people think the South Americans play good soccer and its true but Ghana plays the best entertaining and all attacking football and this should be a clear indication to the rest of the world that there are football potentials in Africa", he said. Coach Tetteh said this at a press briefing soon after his side beat Peru 2-0 to progress to the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup currently underway in South Korea.

He revealed that the secret in the winning ways of the team was that they had not been complacent nor under-rated any of the team and expressed the conviction that no team can defeat them again. The coach said "Now that we are in the medal zone, we would ensure that we never leave Korea with empty hands. We are here to make history and this is the time to lift the cup for the third time."

Coach Tetteh said the 2-0 defeat of the Peruvians was okay since a defeat is a defeat but indicated that the rains ruined the team's efforts at goal and that Peru was clearly not a threat to Ghana.

"I know the task ahead us is herculean but we will work hard. I stated earlier on that complacency is not part of us but I emphasise that we would not allow any team to score us again", he added.

The Black Starlets defeated Peru 2-0 to qualify for the semi finals at the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup in South Korea on Saturday.

They would next meet Spain who beat France on Penalties to also qualify to the semis on September 4 in Ulsan, the same venue where Ghana earlier beat Colombia to finish second in their group matches.
