We have no position on Duncan’s comments – Mortagbe

Managing Director of Hearts of Oak, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe says the club has no position on recent comments made by its head coach, David Duncan.

Duncan complained at a club forum that coaches with past working relationships with Asante Kotoko are getting national positions, adding that there seems to be bias against players of Hearts of oak, either past or present.

Answering a question from pressmen during the unveiling of four new signings at the Hearts secretariat on Friday, Armstrong-Mortagbe noted that it is important to analyse Duncan’s comments to determine the veracity or otherwise, adding that it is the message that should be scrutinized and not the messenger.

“You have to scrutinize the message and not the messenger. You have to analyse what Duncan said critically to ascertain whether the comments he made were factual or otherwise.”

Armstrong-Mortagbe stopped short of backing Duncan, but was quick to emphasise that the club has no official position on the matter.

“As a club, we do not have an official position on the matter. As I said earlier on, you have to critically analyse what he said and to me it checks out, but we have no position on the issue.”
