We fought hard for our WC ticket - Agyemang-Badu

Midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu is elated upon Ghana’s qualification to Brazil 2014 and insists they had to ‘fight hard’ to secure their victory over Egypt in the play-offs.

The Black Stars qualified on a 7-3 aggregate win over North African giants Egypt and will be making their third successive appearance at the World Cup.

Ghana finished the qualifiers as the second highest scoring side after Spain while striker Asamoah Gyan netted more goals than any other striker in the African qualifiers – scoring six times.

Agyemang-Badu who was second-half substitute in both legs is delighted feels elated and insists the Black Stars resolved to end the North Africans’ dominance.

“Egypt are a good side and we had to work hard to beat them and we worked for our victory. I’m very happy we’ve qualified,” he said.

The Udinese midfielder replaced AC Milan’s Sulley Muntari in the second-half.
