Vice president of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie has said that the football governing body are not afraid of being served an injunction after Techiman City were confirmed participants in the upcoming premier league season.

Techiman City, a club found guilty of alleged match-fixing with Wa Africa United to influence results of their match week 22 Division One League fixture last year, were demoted to the Division Two by the FA Ethics Committee.

The ruling by the adjudicating body of the FA reduced the number of participating teams in the league to fifteen, but with the FIFA Connect System closed, there were questions over whether the league will be halted indefinitely or it will be competed for by fifteen teams.

Techiman City filed an appeal and a stay of execution but the Appeals Committee is yet to respond to the request placed before by the Techiman based club.

The FA announced that the plans for league remains unchanged meaning, Techiman City will play in the league.

Club administrators are threatening to place an injunction on the start of the league but the FA insist they are not afraid of the threats.

“We are not afraid of any injunction,” passionate George Afriyie told sportscrusader.com

“We respect the works of the subcommittees mandated to sit on cases of the FA and we are not going against that but what we are saying is that the league will go on as planned.

“If someone should place an injunction on the league, we have other fifteen clubs or fourteen clubs ready to play. ” he said.
