We can still end season in Top 4 – Liberty Coach

Liberty Professionals coach, George Lamptey says his team will work very hard in the second round to finish in the top 4 of the Ghana Glo Premier League.

The Dansoman based side picked up five wins, four draws and six defeats to occupy the 9th position of the league, six points adrift of Berekum Chelsea who occupy 4th spot at the end of the first round of the league.

Head coach George Lamptey believes if his team put in more efforts with the new players coming into the team, it will help them turn things around in the second round and achieve their target of a top four finish. “I’m still hopeful of making the top four at the end of the season. We started at zero and if we find ourselves in 9th position we can equally finish in the top 4 at the end of the season. Even though I believe it will not be easy, but with hard work and consistency in our performances, I’m sure we will be among the top four teams at the end of the season,” Coach Lamptey told GBC URA Radio Sports in Bolgatanga.

George Lamptey was promoted from the team’s youth side to take over from experienced trainer, J.E. Sarpong at the beginning of the season.

“Looking at the way things went on in the first round, it only tells us that the league has been very competitive especially when it becomes very difficult for one team to win three matches in a row. However, I think this is good for the growth of our game,” he added. The Ghana Glo Premier League is at the half stage and will resume after the Africa Nations’ Cup in South Africa.
