We are motivated to win - Coach Maxwell Konadu

Black Stars stand-in manager Maxwell Konado has described Unibank’s second tranche of $400,000 as timely and a good tonic for tomorrow’s Africa Cup qualifier against Uganda in Kampala.

The official bankers of the team last Wednesday presented the cheque to the team at a press soiree, which also attracted Executive Committee members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

It was the second phase of the bank’s three-year sponsorship deal ($1.2m) with the Black Stars.

Acting skipper of the Black Stars Dede Ayew expressed the team’s appreciation to the bank for honouring its word, stating, “We are very grateful to the bank for this support. We are happy to be associated with them and promise to make them happy by winning in Kampala to secure our qualification for the 2015 Nations Cup.”

In like manner, caretaker coach of the Black Stars Konadu thanked the bank for the financial support and said “We very grateful for this, it will motivate us to win in Uganda.”

Mr Richard Anane, Corporate Communications Manager of uniBank also described the Black Stars as a good branding vehicle, and expressed satisfaction about his bank’s association with the team.

The Blacks Stars left the country last night and will face the Cranes of Uganda in their Nations Cup qualifier tomorrow.
