Waris calls for calm after Afcon draw

Ghana international striker, Abdul Majeed Waris has called on all football loving Ghanaians and fans of the Black Stars to remain calm after the 2015 Afcon group stage draw which saw Ghana, Senegal, Algeria and South Africa in the same group.

According to the Trabzonspor striker, it is true that Ghana cannot afford to underrate any team at the tournament since each team that comes to the event is capable of doing anything, hence the qualification but that does not mean Ghana is scared of any team.

In an exclusive interview with sportscrusader.com, the former Hacken attacker said, “for me all the teams are strong. If a nation is able to qualify for the tournament then they are strong. But that does not mean that they are stronger than Ghana. We know ourselves and what we are capable of doing, so Ghanaians must remain calm and just support the team with prayers”.

“I always believe Ghana has the best team to beat any nation. If we are prepared mentally and physically and that is what we shall be working on as soon as we resume camp for the Afcon so Ghanaians must not look at the names but should just keep calm for the main event,” Waris added.

Majeed Waris scored Ghana’s second goal against the Hawks of Togo in the last group game of the 2015 Afcon qualifiers played in Togo.
