Wa All Stars defender sets sight on continental football

Wa All Stars stalwart defender Ismail Ganiu has called on his colleagues to book continental football for the Wa-based side at the end of the 2016 domestic football calendar.

The Ghana Youth international rallied his team mates to confirm their readiness for the upcoming season with a ruthless demonstration at home to Sekondi Hasaacas in the opening match of the new football season.

The centre back urged his colleagues to make a real assault on the league trophy if they are to come out of their pale shadows on the local scene.

Ganiu, touted as one of the finest breeds of centre backs in the country, highlighted their rampant pre-season form as a testament to the true value of his side if they can unleash the full potentials within the playing staff.

The ex Wa Anokye Stars utility defender however boldly accepted the void left by their departed colleagues in the transfer window, citing Emmanuel Gyamfi as one player his side will sorely miss in the course of the season.

“Ghanaian football fans will now see the stuff Wa All Stars are made of when the new season kicks off.

Our collective target is the league trophy or a top four slot at the very least come the end of the season.

We will miss the services of the outgone players especially Emmanuel Gyamfi but we have motivated ourselves to make up for the lost collectively”, Ganiu told sports crusader.

On the visit of Hasaacas to the Wa Park for the opening match of the 2016 season, the soft-spoken centre backfired a verbal warning towards their Western “Do Boys” ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“We are ever ready for the visit of Sekondi Hasaacas to the Wa Park. I am personally ready for the much-expected duels with any striker unleashed by Hasaacas come Sunday”, Ismail Ganiu added.

Ganiu joined Wa All Stars from division II side Wa Anokye in the 2013 season and has been blossomed into one of the finest centre backs in the country.
