Ghana defender Harrison Afful apologized to the Columbus Crew fans after Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Philadelphia Union in the MLS.

The right back played the entire duration at the MAPFRE Stadium as the Black & Gold's suffered their straight defeat of the season.

Chris Pontius opened his Philadelphia Union scoring account by bagging the brace, and his double was enough to help the club knock off Columbus Crew SC.

The Union held a healthy lead late into the match at MAPFRE Stadium, but still had to stave off a late comeback attempt from Crew SC.

Sierra Leonean Kei Kamara pulled one back with three minutes left on the clock.

Despite the defeat Afful said they did not go down easily.

"We did all that we can but it’s rather unfortunate we couldn’t get the three points in front of this fantastic crowd," he said in a post-match interview.

"The supporters were very great and came in their numbers but it’s rather unfortunate we were trying to do everything possible- even though we were down by two goals but we were trying to get the three points."
