Upper West takes its turn in Coca cola U-17 tournament

Wa, March 24, GNA - The Upper West Region would next Friday have its turn to host the on-going regional Coca Cola Under-17 soccer tournament to select a team to represent the Region at the national competition scheduled for April this year.

Alhaji Daudi Yahaya, Chairman of the Regional Football Association briefing GNA Sports on Wednesday at Wa, the regional capital, he said all was ready for the competition to kick off as scheduled. He said all the eight participating teams have since intensified their training schedules ahead of the two-day competition to enable them win the prizes at stake and represent the Region.

The participating teams are Wa FC, Young Heroes, Bahaas FC, Rainbow Babies, Power FC, Anokye Stars, Yaasin FC and Sky FC. Alhaji Yahaya said that the competition promises to be a very exciting one since all the participating teams were determined to display great talents, skills, determination and endurance to grab the ultimate prize. He described the competition as a platform to unearth hidden youth soccer talents and help develop them to higher levels.

The Regional FA Chairman said it is his expectation that the best team that would represent the Region will be better placed to challenge and make an impact against the teams from the other regions at the grand finale. Alhaji Yahaya therefore invited all soccer lovers to troop to the Wa Sports Stadium on Friday, April 2, to offer their moral support to their favourite teams as they battle for honours. 24 March 10
