Dusiburg coach Karsten Baumann may have a secret he can no longer keep under wraps. His constant fielding of 21 year old defender Phil Ofosu Ayeh has allowed football analysts and the German media to get a better look at the emerging and powerful stopper who is making headlines in the lower league of German football.

The question now is how long can Duisburg resist tempting offers and hold onto their no nonsense young defender who is no longer a secret?

It is believed that Germany's national team coach Joachim Lowe who is famed for blooding young players is also keeping close tabs on the player who technically, can play for either Ghana or Germany. When he was 18, Ayeh was called by Ghana's Junior national team coach but missed the boat due to the late approval by his club who were reluctant to release him thus delaying processing of his documents for Ghana.

Phil Ofosu Ayeh, (born as Phil Schluter, 15th September, 1991) started his amateur football career at age 11 with VFL Wihelmshaven in Germany.

The right full back has gone through the German system and with his "power, skill and pace” is highly tipped for a major call up soon.

Even at age 17, his powerful physique was in full glare when he was promoted to the senior side of SV Wilhelmshaven in 2009 making 30 appearances before joining FC Rot-WeiB Erfurt in 2011. The player continued his education and rise in German football under the strict guidance of his Ghanaian father who insisted that his son complete his college education first.

The first step in getting that major breakthrough came in 2013 when Phil Ofosu Ayeh signed for MSV Duisburg in the FuBball- Liga.

Ayeh lists players like Anthony Baffoe as one of his heroes. Baffoe famously opted for Ghana when he could have become the first Black footballer to play for Germany in 1991.

Meanwhile another talent for Ghana coach Appiah to consider has emerged. He is 19 year old Memphis Depay and a fast developing player in Holland.

The speedy and crafty footballer who plays as a left winger for Dutch Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven has not committed to Holland and has said he would love an invitation from Ghana.

The teenager plays under the name of Memphis and is the son of a Ghanaian father and Dutch mother.

His most recent game at the top level was when he featured for PSV in their 3-0 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.

With Ghana on the verge of a record third consecutive World Cup appearance, coach Appiah is keen to reach out to the best of the best in order to get a blend of youthful and experienced players who are hungry for success.
