Black Stars, and Udinese player, Emmanuel Agyeman Badu, has bemoaned the lack of character in the national Under 20 team that failed to annex this year’s World Cup in New Zealand.

Badu, who was part of the 2009 Ghana team that won the cup has told Kasapa FM, the team’s exit could be blamed on the lack of character and leadership exhibited within the set up.

Ghana he said failed to make it past the play-off stages mainly because there was little coordination from the central unit of the team.

“It was leadership failure. If you are going to a tournament you need quality, character and leadership. By leadership i mean the control you get from the captain on the field. We didn’t see that in New Zealand.

Although they had quality; the team lacked character,” he told Kasapa Sports’ Tony Adam Adjei.

“When you make mention of Stephen Appiah, what comes to mind; that is what i am talking about.

Ghana failed to go past the play-off stage after succumbing to a better Malian side who went on to place third.

The tournament came to an end last weekend, with Serbia leaving it late to snatch a 1:0 victory from Brazil.
