Two new stadiums for 2008 Nations Cup

Ghana will build stadiums in Tamale and Takoradi for the 2008 African Nations Cup, the country's president John Kufuor said on Thursday.

"We'll also construct mini-stadiums in some regions for (the) teams' training sessions," Kufuor told parliament.

"The stadiums in Accra and Kumasi will also be renovated for the tournament. There's no more time so preparations will begin this year," he added without giving any financial details.

Ghana hosted the tournament in 1963, 1978 and co-hosted the 2000 edition of the biennial tournament with Nigeria.

The 2004 finals were won by host nation Tunisia and Egypt is the venue for the 2006 finals.
