Two club chairmen motivate Black Queens

Accra, July 10, GNA-Two chairmen of football clubs on Wednesday, presented various food items to the Black Queens as their contributions towards the team's preparations for the World championships in the United States in September.

They are Alhaji Mohammed Bimbo, of Midtjiland F/C of Mamobi and Alhaji Abubakari Nallah of Tudu Mighty Jets.

The items gathered within 24 hours, followed an urgent appeal launched by Peace FM, a popular Radio Station in Accra on its Sports Programme.

The food items including 10 bags of rice, five gallons of cooking oil, 20 cartons of omo, fruits juices, voltic mineral water , a carton of key soap, 10 cartons of glucose and a quantity of drugs. The cost of the items were estimated at more than seven million cedis.

Mr Kwasi Brenyah, General Manager of Peace FM who hosted the presentation ceremony said his outfit is impressed with the achievements of the Black Queens and they would continue with the campaign to motivate the team to bring honours to the country.

"With such motivation there is the hope that you could do better than your previous outing in the coming World Cup', he exhorted the Queens.

Accepting the items from the two clubs chairmen, Alberta Sackey, skipper of the squad expressed the gratitude of the players for the spontaneuos public response to the appeal saying "this would inspire us to perform creditably".

Mr Sylvester Mensah, chairman of the management committee of the Black Queens thanked the donors on behalf of the team saying that five months in camp at the Winneba Sports College is enough proof of the dedication by the players and handlers to do honour to themselves and their motherland.

"I am encouraging other Ghanaians to come to the aid of the team to prepare them adequately for the competition ahead of us", he offered. Printex, a local textile company will outdoor a special cloth in honour of the Black Queens and clothe the team next week, Mr Moses Ziese, the Personnel Manager told the GNA Sports when he earlier presented two pieces of the cloth to skipper Sackey and Memunatu Sulemana at the factory.
