Torric hails ‘greatest goal’

Youngster Torric Jebrin is in ecstasy after scoring what he describes as “the best goal of my career” on Wednesday night against giants, Fenerbahce in the Turkey Cup.

Torric’s second tier side, 1461Trabzon had in the earlier round eliminated another of Turkey’s biggest football clubs, Galatasaray right in front of Galatasaray’s own fans to make the quarter final where the 8 qualified teams were put in two groups of 4 for an all-play-all home and away schedule. Torric’s side had just amassed two draws and three losses from their opening five games in Group A as the quality of the opponents came to bare.

But the 1.Lig side were not rattled by an earlier 0-2 loss to Fenerbahce at home when they marched unto the Sukru Saraguclu Stadium in Istanbul Wednesday night for their last group game. So much that even after falling behind to Fenerbahce twice, Trabzon hit back both times before Torric sealed an improbable win with a terrific shot from outside the ‘18’ with 4 minutes left on the clock following a solo run from midfield.

Afterwards, the youngster couldn’t stop babbling about it all night long and is hoping the famous win can inspire the push for promotion (they currently lie 4th with 7 matches left) by 1461 Trabzon, a feeder club for top tier side, Trabzonspor which incidentally have won the Turkey Cup quarter final Group B.

“Yes it’s the greatest goal I’ve ever scored in my career and I’m so happy because of the opponents and occasion. I feel great man, it’s not easy and it’s a long time since I scored so this goal have made me very happy,” Torric told 90 MINUTES from Turkey moments after the game. He added: “Yes we are hoping to be promoted, we don't know what will happen but we are doing our best so by end of the league I hope something good happens. I’m so happy.”
