Thirty-six teams to participate in C/R division two league

Cape Coast, Aug. 22, GNA- Thirty-six teams will be participating in the Central Region division two-league competition, which kicks off on Sunday, September 14.

The decision was taken by chairmen of participating clubs at a consultative meeting jointly presided over by Mr Thomas Doe, chairman of the regional football association and Mr Agyare Gyasi, sports development officer of the sports council at the sports stadium on Thursday.

Mr Doe announced that the league, will be divided into four zones, and that two teams, which will come last in each zone after the competition, would be relegated.

Addressing the club chairmen, Mr Doe appealed to them to ensure that their clubs prepared adequately for the league. He said club officials should refrain from influencing referees with bribes in order to win matches.

He appealed to clubs which have not paid their registrations fees to do so before the league starts.

Mr doe appealed to district assemblies to create an enabling environment to facilitate the development of sports in their districts and commended the Cape Coast municipal assembly for giving financial assistants to the two local clubs, Dwarfs and Venomous Vipers.
