The African Triangle

THERE is a special chemistry in the Chelsea team these days and look no further than the three stars from the Dark Continent.

Drogba (Ivory Coast), Essien (Ghana) and Makelele (born in Congo) have a tremendous rapport between them and it is no surprise that the trio have some tactical trump cards up their sleeves.

As seen repeatedly in the Premiership and Champions League, midfield pivot Makelele initiates the move by spreading play wide.

Drogba is not just your average target man. The 14-goal striker likes to drift to the wings to drag markers out of position and free up space for the onrushing Essien to have a crack.
