Taylor Registerd For Africa

Charles Taylor has finally been registered for Asante Kotoko's Cup Winners Cup campaign. This paves the way for him to play for Kotoko in the quarterfinal clash against APR FC of Rwanda. The registration was effected yesterday following the transfer of Taylor from Hearts to Kotoko last Friday. Unfortunately, Taylor is the only player who can be registered by Kotoko for the continental campaign because only one slot remained to be filled.

It had been hoped that Kotoko would be given a special dispensation to fill seven places following the departure of some players who had been registered by Kotoko for Africa. The players are Godwin Ablordey, Abass Inusah, Hamza Mohammed and Kwadwo Poku, who are all with King Faisal, Nana Frimpong and Fuseini Adams, both with B.A. United, and Osei Boateng who is currently in the United Kingdom.

Ablordey and Abass have been transferred outright to Faisal. Hamza refused to sign a contract with Kotoko upon the expiry of his loan from Real Tamale United to Kotoko, while Poku left on the strength of an agreement between King Faisal and Corners Babies. Nana Frimpong and Fuseini are on loan to B.A. United, while Osei Boateng was transfer-listed by the Kotoko IMC as a result of an unruly behaviour put up by him.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) notified Kotoko about the impossibility of registering more than one player in a letter dated July 15, 2003, signed by Mr. Mustapha Fahmy, the General Secretary.
