TV: The footballers' wives club

Over the last decade the lives of footballers' wives have increasingly come under the media spotlight.

From David Beckham's Victoria to Luis Figo's model wife Helene, the media seem to be obsessed about what the 'other half' gets up to.

BBC Three's African Footballers' Wives looks at the lifestyles of three women whose husbands have made their living playing in the leagues of Europe.

Abedi Pele, from Ghana, is one of the most successful footballers ever to have come out of Africa and a European Cup winner with Marseille.

His wife Maha has come to realise that despite his recent retirement, his status in the game means that football will always dominate their lives.

And their son is planning to follow in his father's famous footsteps.

Loui Fish is married to Charlton defender Mark Fish, who has been at the London club since moving from another Premiership outfit, Bolton, in 2000.

Mark is one of the most popular figures in South Africa, while his wife made her name as a lingerie model before coming to Britain.

The programme also follows Lucien Mettomo's move from Manchester City to German league side Kaiserslautern.

Unable to speak the language he and his wife Marcele are nervous about leaving their adopted city of Manchester.
