Agona Swedru, Dec 27, GNA - Swedru All Blacks Football Club beat their archrivals, Agona Fankobaa by two goals to nil to lift the President's Cup in their friendly encounter at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Monday. The two goals were scored in each half through Bismark Idan and Abudulah Mohammed in 25th and 49th minutes respectively. The special Boxing Day matches code named "President's Memory Lane Sports Fiesta" was organised under the auspices of the National Sports Council aimed at reviving traditional Ghanaian football rivalry across the various regions.
During the penalty shoot-out, both teams wasted a spot kick each in the first and second half even though it was All Blacks who had total dominance of the game. Referee G.K. Tagborlo from Cape Coast did not hesitate to blow his whistle for the first spot kick when a Fankobaa player was brought down in the 18 yard box but Habib Mohammed of King Faisal who featured for Fankobaa wasted the opportunity to put his side ahead. All Blacks Idan also could not convert a spot kick awarded them and the game had to travel the end with none of able to find the net even after they had made several changes.
Nana Ogidigram Odiowusew Asiedu Botwe II, Swedruhene and Acting President of Nyakrom Traditional Area and Mr Eric Oppong Bediako, Agona District Coordinating Director jointly presented the Cup to Abudulah Mohammed, captain of All Blacks. Habib Mohammed was voted the best player of the match while the fair play team award went to All Blacks.
