After the Black Stars booked their place in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, support and congratulations have been flooding in from across the continent. Despite losing 2-1 to Egypt in the second leg of their playoff the Ghanaian team won on 7-3 aggregate and have gone through to their third successive FIFA WC tournament.

President John Dramani Mahama took the opportunity to offer his congratulations when members of the team, management and technical staff visited Flagstaff House in Kanda.

The president voiced his pride in the Black Stars and assured the team of the government’s ongoing financial and logistic support in the build up to the tournament.

The support from this and other unions helps to bolster unity within the team and Ghana National Petroleum and Guinness have also been instrumental in providing support and encouragement to the national team every step of the way. Coach AKwasi Appiah says his ambition now is to win the 2014 cup in Brazil. The former Ghana Captain has become the first Ghanaian to see his team through to the tournament and the incentive to win is immense. The 2014 FIFA World Cup starts on Thursday 12 June 2014 in Brazil.
