Sunyani Liberty colts team beats Kotokrom Super Stars

Sunyani, (B/A) Sept. 6, GNA - Sunyani New Town Liberty colts football club beat Kotokrom Super Stars 3-2 in the 2010-2011 Sunyani Municipality Colts League (Under-12 division) at the weekend. The match which was played at the Sunyani Methodist 'B' Junior High School Park ironically saw Super Stars leading 2-1 in the first half which was officially scheduled to travel 25 minutes in each half. It was Liberty's Eugene Adu who opened the scoring in the ninth minute for Ernest Apraku to get the equalizer for Super Stars in the 13th minute.

Super Stars redoubled efforts and their attack, spearheaded by Jefferson Amoah (aka 'Kaka') put more pressure on the defence of Liberty F.C.

It was therefore not surprising when in the 19th minute Ernest Apraku again made it 2-1 to bring the half time score to 2-1. On resumption of the second half, both teams gave best account of themselves in the initial exchanges but it was Liberty F.C. who had the edge and pulled even at 2-2.

However during the irregular extension of the duration of the match Liberty managed to grab the match-winner through Abu Kassem. An official of Super Stars, Dida Tetteh told GNA Sports that the Club would petition the Municipal Colts Football Association, the organizing body of the competition, against the behaviour of referee Adjei for giving undue advantage to the Liberty team. Super Stars beat Dynasty Academicals 2-0 in the opening match of the league at Kotokrom a week ago. Meanwhile the Under-14 division encounter between the two teams could not come on because officials of each side blamed each other for parading over-age players.
