The Sunyani Area Two team, won this year’s MTN Soccer fiesta after the Zongo team, succumbed to 2-1 defeat on penalty shootout, at the Twene Amanfo school park on Monday.

The boys eliminated the Adomako lads at the semi-final stage of the community gala competition, organised by the leading multi-national mobile telecommunication company to climax the 2015 Sun-city fest in Sunyani.

Joy and ecstasy characterised this year’s soccer tournament, when the participating teams, selected from 16 communities, within the Sunyani operational area of the company exhibited brilliant performances to entertain spectators, as they battle for the trophy.

The Adomako lads sailed through to the semi-final stage of the competition after beating the Adentia boys on penalty shootout, with the Newtown team succumbing to 0-2 defeat to the Zongo at the quarter final.

In earlier encounters, the Adentia team defeated the Nkwabeng boys 2-0, while Adomako also beat the Odumase team by 2-0 aggregate.

The Zongo team defeated the Abesim team 3-2, whilst the Magazine boys beat Baakoniaba team by a lone goal.

Tanoso team also surrendered 2-3 defeat to the Sunyani Area three boys, whilst the Fiapre boys also defeated the Newtown boys by a lone goal.

Mr Sulemana Briamah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Territory Sales Controller of the MTN, explained that the annual Sun-city festival was instituted about four years ago, to strengthen the company’s relationship with its customers.

It is also aimed at helping to unearth and nurturing the talents of young people, as well as creating an avenue for them to showcase their sportsmanship, he added.
