Sudan hope to upset Ghana

Sudan coach Muhammad Abdullah Mazda has promised to throw spokes into Ghana's 2014 Fifa World Cup qualification wheels on Friday night.

The two sides will meet at the Al Merrikh Stadium in Omdurman in the reverse fixture of their Group D qualifier.

The Falcons of Jediane lost the corresponding fixture 4-0 in Kumasi three months ago and have vowed to avenge that heavy defeat.

Mazda measured his side's battle readiness in two friendly matches against Ethiopia which they lost 2-0 in an OAU/AU Golden Jubilee exhibition match and a 0-0 draw with Tanzania.

Sudan are at the foot of the table and have the dice loaded against them. Ghana's technical team monitored the Nile Crocodiles play against the Taifa Stars in last Sunday's friendly.

The Black Stars spent five days in Ethiopia to fine tune preparations after training earlier in Accra where few players reported due to club commitments. Head coach Kwesi Appiah had a full house for training on Tuesday and Wednesday before leaving the East African country.

Ghana are second in Group D and need a win in Omdurman to keep the chase on leaders Zambia who play Lesotho in Ndola this weekend.
