Stephen Appiah warns buoyant Hearts of Oak

Stephen Appiah has warned his former club Hearts of Oak it is early days to celebrate after making a bright start to their season last Sunday.

The Phobians edged New Edubiase United 1-0 in their opening Ghana Premier League match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Fans have been raving about their team’s performance and eulogizing head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

The future looks bright but Appiah has warned the club followers not to expect a rosy campaign.

"We have played just a game and the fans are singing praise on coach Kenichi but one thing we should know is that we have a long way to go,” the ex-Ghana captain Appiah told Joy Sports

"They have lots of matches to play and perform as well but I have been hearing good things about the coach especially with his work ethics so I pray this year will be Heart of Oak’s year.

"But I think in all these we should measure our expectations- in as much as we are all hoping for the best we shouldn’t do things that will put pressure on the coach."

Hearts of Oak face Medeama in Tarkwa in the weekend’s top liner.
