Stephen Appiah Confident

Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah has assured the nation of a massive win against the Cranes of Uganda on Sunday in the Group 13 African Nations Cup qualifier at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

"I am sure that we'll beat the Ugandans comprehensively on Sunday,' Appiah stated.

The Stars captain was speaking in a post match interview on Wednesday after his side had held local side Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw in a trial match at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

He described the team under Burkhard Ziese as a side that keeps improving by the day. Hear him, 'I think that we are improving and we keep improving. If anyone had followed us from the day we played the Harambee Stars he would notice our improvement'.

Appiah described the trial match with Kotoko as a useful exercise, which had brought the best out of his side. He called for patience from the public in their criticism of the team, as there would be hiccups as the team attempts to regain its past glory.

Though appearing quite satisfied with the performance of his colleagues "Tornado" as he is popularly known made a passionate appeal to other foreign-based colleagues who are yet to join the team after being invited to do so in the interest of Ghana.

The Stars captain who currently plays for Brescia in the Italian Serie A referred to Kumasi fans as special and called on the great people to support them and cheer the Stars on to victory on Sunday even when the going gets tough.

"Kumasi supporters are always great and I plead with them to offer us their brand of support on Sunday by cheering us on", he pleaded but concluded, "that the Stars shall make the nation smile after the game".
