"Stay focused to ensure qualification" - Fobih

Accra, June 2, GNA - The Minister of Education, Science and Sports, Professor Dominic Fobih has urged the Black Stars to stay focused to ensure their qualification for both the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Stars launched their campaign for the joint 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-0 defeat of the Greens of Libya last Sunday in their Group Five first leg clash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Prof. Fobih who said this in a congratulatory message to the Stars on Monday copied to GNA Sports, noted that "your determination, commitment and concentration throughout the game earned you the remarkable score-line which broke the jinx that has surrounded matches between the two countries."

He expressed the nation's gratitude to the technical and management teams of the Stars for inspiring the players to achieve such a laudable feat.

"We hope that this victory will spur you on to prepare adequately and conscientiously towards the subsequent matches throughout this month and others' ahead."

The Stars next play Lesotho on Sunday in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
