Stars defence worries Abedi

Abedi Ayew Pele has urged Milovan Rajevac to work urgently on his defensive back-ups with injuries to star men threatening Ghana’s campaign at the 2010 Nations Cup.

Ghana’s best defender John Mensah has been going in and out of the Sunderland treatment room and Abedi says that should be a real concern to Rajevac.

“I worry about our defence,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “When John Mensah is fit he is one of the best central defenders in the world and provides such stability at the back but he plays today and goes off tomorrow.”

“The coach must therefore work not just on getting him ready because he is a really good defender but must work out a good back up because we would lose it all there.”

Mensah’s injuries have been a source of worry to many Ghanaian football fans who are now hoping he can have a stable Nations Cup but it is not the only injury stress that Rajevac has to deal with.

The Serbian is waiting on the recovery of star players Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah who are both currently nursing injuries but are certain to be part of the Nations Cup squad.
