Starlets to play an Accra select side

Accra, Oct 20, GNA - The national under-17 team, Black Starlet who are preparing for their first leg qualifier for their Africa Under-17 tournament next month would engage an Accra select side on Thursday, as part of their regional tour to get the team in shape. A statement from Mr Ampim-Darko, for the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said the match, arranged by the Management Committee of the team would come up at the Accra Sport Stadium.

The encounter is among a series of trial matches lined for the team in the Greater Accra Region to ensure that they make it, this time, to the tournament scheduled for Gabon next year.

The Starlets who have won the African under 17 Cup once and the World under-17 tournament twice, have failed to qualify for the past two continental editions of the competition.

This effectively kept them out of the World under-17 tournament, as the African edition was used to select African representatives to the world championship.

The match will kick off at 5 pm and a flat gate fee of five thousand cedis will be charged at the gates. 20 Oct 04
