Starlets sure of defeating Brazil

Ulsan (SK), Aug. 27, GNA - Ghana's Black Starlets offensive midfielder, Ransford Osei has said the team was not afraid of Brazil and gave the assurance that they would defeat their opponents on Wednesday to progress to the next stage of the competition. "People think Brazil has a big name but forget that Ghana has the biggest name in juvenile soccer. Why should we fear them", he said. Osei who accompanied coach Sellas Tetteh to answer questions from the media in Ulsan said Ghana and Brazil drew in Korea in an eight nation tournament before the commencement of the World Cup and sp they do not fear them in any way.

On the team's poor goal scoring, Osei said h has the trust that the coach would train them more to build and improve on their shooting ability adding that, " Sometimes goal scoring can also be based on luck but since we are determined to send the Cup to Ghana we would improve on it."

Osei said, "But people should know that the ball is faster than the human being and sometimes if you are watching from afar you may think the player didn't try."

He thanked Ghanaian and Korean fans for rallying behind the team for the victory so far and also thanked Ghanaians back home who prayed with them before their matches.

The midfielder appealed to all Ghanaians especially at home to continue to remember the team in their daily prayers to ensure that God sends the needed blessings for the team to lift the ultimate cup. The Black Starlets defeated Colombia on Sunday 2-1 to qualify to the round of 16 and would meet South American side, Brazil on Wednesday, August 29 while Colombia take on Nigeria on the same day.
