Starlets qualify for World Cup

Kegue, Togo -- Ghana's Black Starlets thrashed Eritrea 6-0 to qualify for the semifinals of the African Under-17 Championships as well as the World Under-17 Championship in Korea this year.

After their opening match 8-0 defeat to Nigeria's Golden Eaglets, Eritrea were not expected to give much resistance and crumpled as early as the second minute to an Osei Ransford goal.

Quansah Abeiku extended the lead before Ismael Yartey's strike five minutes after the interval made it 3-0

Sadick's hat-trick in the last 20 minutes (67, 78, 87 mins) completed the comprehensive win over the Eritreans.

Ghana coach, Osam Doudu said: "It was a game we would have won with a wider margin. But, all the same it is okay for me.

"As we prepare for Nigeria in our last game, I must state that I don't fear any team but I respect all teams even the one I just defeated. We are prepared for them."

Nigeria also went through to the Fifa Under-17 tournament after defeating Burkina Faso 2-1 earlier.
