Starlets miss out on Rwanda 2011

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA - The Black Starlets lost out on a place at the Rwanda 2011 African U-17 Championship after losing 3-2 on penalties to Senegal on Sunday in Dakar.

The Senegalese scored a goal in each half to neutralize the 2-0 lead of the Starlets in the first leg played a fortnight ago in Accra. This is the second successive time the Starlets are missing out on the continental cadet championship after Gambia edged past them at the same stage two years ago.

The Starlets were winners of the biennial championship in 1995 and 1999.

The final tournament takes place from 7-22 January, 2011 in Rwanda.
