Stadium Survivors Form Association

An association called "Surviving Victims and Families of May 9th Accra Sports Stadium Disaster" has been formed in Accra.

A press release issued at the weekend said the association is to "pursue the rights, interest and welfare of the surviving victims and the families of the May 9th 2001 Accra Sports Stadium disaster", which was the worst of its kind in the sporting history of the country.

Also, it aims to create voluntary watchdog committees among spectators to prevent football hooliganism.

Members of the association are: Messrs. George Kenneth Dzietror, Chairman, Christopher Okpoti Kwao, Secretary, Sekinatu Braimah, Organiser and Abdallah Alhassan, Treasurer. The rest are Messrs Mohammed Lawal Abdallah, Mallam Saeed, Appiah Peprah and Zulkarnain Husein, all Executive Members.
