Newly appointed Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuije will face the vetting committee of Parliament on February 8.

The former Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development was named as a replacement for Dr. Mustapha Ahmed on January 19 and will be confirmed as the substantive minister after being vetted.

The ace sports journalist is the 23rd politician appointed to head the Sports Ministry since 1978 and the 15th in the last 15 years.

Vanderpuije will only have a budgetary allocation of GHC22 million to administer Ghana sports and the youth sectors after the budget was reduced from GHC 36 million.
