Sport Council Board meets on stadium disaster

The Board of the National Sports Council (NSC), has appealed to the general public to refrain from comments which are likely to pre-empt the final decision the Commission of Enquiry into last Wednesday's stadium tragedy.

The board said since the findings and recommendations of the Commission would ensure that such disasters do not happen again, it has become imperative that the committee is given a free hand to work.

At an emergency meeting on Monday, the Acting Chief Executive of the NSC, Brigadier George Brock briefed them on circumstances that resulted in the disaster after having been taken to the disaster scene.

The Board after the meeting expressed their heart-felt condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
