Sport Championship Milo enters group stages

Ho, Jan. 13 GNA- Volta Academy from the Volta Region on Monday made a bright start in the opening of the under 17 quarter final group match encounter when they licked King Dogo FC of the Greater Accra Region by a lone goal in a match that was characterised with rough play.

The hot tempered match saw class one referee Lucky of Aflao, flashing his red card in the face of four players, two from each side as well as a couple of yellow cards to bring some sanity into the game.

The culprits were Richmond Opare and Stanley Adjei of Academy and Adamu Shaibu and Theophilus Kodjo of King Dogo FC.

While Opare and Kodjo were red-carded for off-the-ball incidents, Adjei who scored his side's only goal, in the 30th minute and Shaibu were also sent off for their cynical tackles on their opponents that attracted the cards.

Academy held onto the solitary led until referee Lucky brought hostilities to a close.

Other results were Cornerstone Babies from the Ashanti Region 6 Sunyani Young Goldfields from the Brong Ahafo Region 0; Zamalek from the Western Region lost 1 - 2 to Anokye Stars of the Ashanti Region while Frankfurt FC from the Eastern Region beat Anokye Stars from the Upper West Region 3 - 2.
