Sole Financing Clubs Very Risky-Former BA BOSS

The Former Chairman of BA United, Kingsley Osei-Bonsu aka Lord Zico has told JoyOnline in an exclusive interview that it is no longer profitable for a single individual to be the sole financier of a football club especially when he does not own it.

Many club chairmen in Ghana make substantive investments in clubs only to be vilified at the end of the terms.

Lord Zico has been speaking about his experiences at the helm of the premier league club BA United in the last four years.

He was involved in a protracted tussle with current chairman George Arthur over who should run the club. Zico was virtually hounded out.

At the time of parting ways with BA United he was indebted to the tune of ?400m.

The Sun! yani-based businessman told JoyOnline that he has pitched camp with rival team Bofoakwa Tano but he is not interested in becoming the chairman of the club.

He says he learnt his lessons the hard way.

Zico maintains that clubs in the country especially those in the premier league should be run on professional lines with proper accounting and marketing programs and not be restricted to one man businesses.
