Soccer enthusiasts express confidence in Stars

Hohoe, (V/R), June 6, GNA - Soccer enthusiasts at Hohoe in the Volta Region seem to have rediscovered their confidence in the Black Stars, the Senior National team following their superlative performance against South Korea, when they spanked them 3-1 in their final trial match played at Edinburgh, Scotland on Sunday.

The football fans said that there has been a vast improvement in the tactical discipline and display of the team in each of the trial matches so far played, describing their performance as a good omen and a revival of the national psyche.

The fans however hoped that this newfound vintage progression and show would manifest itself when the actual World Cup tournament commences with the group stage matches.

They called for prayers by Christians, Muslims and traditionalists to nullify all evil forces that might attempt to bring disappointment to the passion of the people.

The fans therefore urged the players to remember to put in extra effort and determination to ensure that they progress to the next stage and raise aloft the national colours.

Mr Albert Azumah, a soccer fan told the GNA Sports that the outstanding show displayed in the Korea match has energized his affection to the team and prayed that there would be no bias officiating against the Black Stars, and went on to predict a 2-1 score line in the opener against Italy on June 12.

He said that the team has all it takes to face any side in the World including Brazil.

Mr Kudjo Siki, another fan said even though the trial matches have no actual correlation to the actual tournament, the pristine feat of the Stars was worth commending considering the abysmal performance it showcased at the recent African Cup of Nations in Egypt. "Personally, the sterling show of bravado was enough for me even if the Stars fail to advance", he hinted.
