"Sir" Jones takes over Liberty

Former African coach of the year, Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has after failing to get his job back as head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, has been named the technical handler of Dansoman based Liberty Professionals.

Coach Attuquayefio who assumed his current role last week said he took the job because of the rapport that exists between himself and the club.

Insider sources say Jones would be in charge during the second round of the premier league.

Jones appointment followed his sterling performance during the under –17 youth championship in New Zealand, where Ghana won bronze medal. He was also the man who coached Hearts of Oak to successive four league titles in the domestic league; champions league trophy and the African Super cup trophy.

Mr. Attuquayefio is also remembered for his exploits with a completely local Black Star side that held the star-studded Super Green Eagles of Nigeria to a goalless drawn game at the Accra Sports Stadium in a crucial world cup qualifier.
