Siasia shocker: We are not ready for Ghana

With barely three weeks to the all important 2008 Olympics qualifier against Ghana, Nigeria's U-23 coach Samson Siasia has informed Jerrysonfm that his team are not ready for the match.

"I am not one to deceive myself or anybody else and that is the reason why they say I talk too much. Regarding our preparations for the Olympics qualifier against Ghana, I can tell you sincerely that we are not ready or well prepared," Siasia confessed.

"Virtually all the invited local players that I invited are still not in camp. They are still busy playing for their various clubs in the league and FA Cup and there is nothing I can do.

"The only players in camp right now are those that were sponsored or that were not invited by me. Or should I wait till the end of the league before we start our preparations?"

Siasia also disclosed that the situation is made worse for the fact that the invited overseas based players would not be able to join the team for another two weeks at least.

"We can not even train with the foreign-based players because they will come to Nigeria only when they stop playing. That is the season will end soon and there is a stipulated period for them to join their national team.

"They are still playing for their team and most of them will travel down to the country as from May 24, 26 and 28. So at the moment we are just sitting down and doing virtually nothing."
