Shepherd Stars Academy to embark on four-nation European tour

Odupong Ofaakor, (C/R), April 6, GNA - Shepherd Stars Academy, a Second Division football club in the Central Region is to embark on one month tour to Europe and America to engage in a youth tournament in July this year.

The 18 players and seven officials of the club are to visit the USA, Spain, Italy and Brazil.

Mr Paul Kwaku Addei Jnr, Chairman of the Odupong Ofanko based Club disclosed this to GNA Sports at Bohye Asaseso in the Awutu-Senya District at the week-end.

He said the Club would also that the opportunity to participate in the Albion Cup in San Diago and the Palencia Cup 2008 during the tour. Mr Addei Jnr said the Club which was formed last year was however going through financial difficulties to honor the invitation and appealed to corporate bodies, philanthropists, the Ministry Education, Science and Sports, National Sports Council and other sporting organizations to come to come to their aid to enable them make the trip. He said the participation of the Club in the four-nation tournament would enhance the performance of the team this year. Mr Addei Jnr said the club in its pre-season games played several matches against some Premier, First and Second Division teams with the results were very impressive and encouraging.

He expressed hope that financial and corporate bodies would respond to their call to help the team to participate in the tournament.
